Who I am
First studies
My name is Livio Savioli, I was born in 1983, in Piove di Sacco (Padua – Italy) in 1983, where I lived with my family, attended school and met the girl that would become my wife.
After obtaining the school leaving certificate, I was one step from enrolling the University of philosophy; it seemed that I was very philosophycally inclined (and I really liked that subject) but, according to many people, that way wouldn’t helped me to find a good job!

So, I took time to really understand what I wanted to do in my life, but no sabbatical year! I tried to do different jobs such as the industrial worker, the tiler and the gardener. Hard works that left its mark on me but thought me a lot.
At a certain point, almost by chance (or perhaps not!), I came across the Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli, in Spilimbergo. Than, a trip to Ravenna (other important land of mosaics), the fascination of the gestural expressiveness of this art, the contact with the marteline and the material, bring to light a memory of my childhood. The memory of my grandfather that was a mason: the smell of dusts, of lime and cement and the image of the clever movement of the trowel! He had built his own works.
That was the time to build mine! I spent three years in Spilimbergo; for the first time, faraway from my family and affections. Was it possible that a little town in Friuli could be actually the navel of the world? For me, it has been. There was a mixture of nationalities in that school and a special energy around it. I could open my mind. The days were full, the work very hard, but we faced all with an incredible easy-going attitude.
During other experiences (some of them abroad) I learnt to apply my knowledge of the artistic mosaic and to explore other realities.
Change of direction and comeback to mosaic art
My non-stop research of forms of expression made me become interested in visual arts applied to different contexts. Because of this new-found interest, I enroled the Scuola Internazionale di Grafica in Venice, which helped me find my current job as an art director, in a communication agency in Padua.
In the meantime, I married that girl of the school, that has always supported me and she keeps on doing it. Now, we live in Vigorovea, a little town, close-by Piove di Sacco.
But during these years, I’ve never stopped making mosaics and finally in my father’s old garage, I’ve created my own mosaic studio.
